Publications
Birds SA publishes a magazine, a journal an historical series and meeting minutes. The titles are:
- The Birder - quarterly magazine (members only)
- South Australian Ornithologist - a bird science journal published once/twice per year (members only)
- The Historical Series - published quarterly (open)
- Minutes of the Annual General Meeting, monthly the General Meetings and any Special General Meetings (members only). To access, scroll down to the bottom of this page.
The latest issue of The Birder and the South Australian Ornithologist are also available to fee-paying libraries and those libraries with an exchange agreement. All past issues are openly accessible by everyone.
The Birder
This magazine presents popular, easily readable information on South Australian birds, of interest to a wide variety of readers. It includes general news, conservation updates, bird sightings, and details of past and future Birds SA meetings and excursions.
It is published every three months and is available only to Birds SA members and library subscribers at the time of publication. Once a new issue is published, the old issue is openly available to non-members.

South Australian Ornithologist
Published since 1914, this is Birds SA’s scientific journal presenting information on any aspect of the biology, ecology and conservation of the birds of South Australia in particular and of Australia in general.
It is usually published twice a year in two parts or once per year with the two parts combined as Parts 1 & 2. Each new issue is available only to Birds SA members and library subscribers at the time of publication.
Once a new issue is published, the old issue is made publicly available to non-members with each article downloadable. If the new issue takes more than 12 months to publish, the latest issue is made openly accessible to non-members.

Historical Series
This publication provides informative accounts of exceptional members of the South Australian Ornithologists Association who have contributed to its success since its inception. Accounts of some other notable ornithologists and naturalists are included, as well as articles of general interest on historical ornithology in South Australia. It is included as a supplement to The Birder.

Only the latest minutes are made available to members for approval at the next meeting.
